Following the successful laboratory visit in Bern, the 3DPATH Project consortium met again on May 21st, 2025 in Florence for a second important milestone focused on transforming insights into concrete development priorities.

During the meeting, partners from ACMIT and University of Bern visited the facilities of LENS (European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy) and had the opportunity to observe the current microscope prototype hosted there. This prototype, originally developed by Clepio Biotech’s founders, provided an excellent starting point for technical discussions and future planning.

By analyzing the prototype together, the consortium identified which components need to be adapted to meet the requirements of routine use in pathology laboratories.

Building on the outcomes of both meetings, the team defined a first set of usability specifications, translating user needs into clear design goals. These were then developed into technical requirements that will guide the scanner’s development throughout the project. This work contributes directly to the achievement of the project’s first milestone: the approval of specifications.

All requirements were carefully prioritized based on clinical relevance, technical feasibility, regulatory aspects, and future market potential. This marks an important step from understanding current workflows to actively designing a solution for the future of pathology.
